Children today move between parallel worlds and need to feel safe in both, actress Amala Akkineni said at the Society for Cyberabad 2025 Security Council conclave at HICC on Thursday.
She said young people navigate home, school and public spaces while inhabiting a digital world where risks are constantly present. She added that Suraksha Kavach Safety Clubs run by council volunteers played a key role by guiding children on physical safety, cyber safety, emotional well-being and personal boundaries in a way that was appropriate for their age and everyday reality.
She added that many contemporary dangers, including cyberbullying, grooming, academic pressure and social comparison, often leave scars on young minds, stressing that psychological safety and digital awareness must be given equal attention. She added that when safety became part of everyday learning, children became more informed, confident and prepared.
Drawing on her early years in Hyderabad, she said her work with Blue Cross, which she started with her husband, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, showed how community-based programs can make public spaces safer. She encouraged safety clubs to collaborate on initiatives that helped children understand nature and animal behavior, saying the lessons anchored them beyond the digital world.
She said SCSC’s partnership with the police, industry and community groups showed the impact of collective efforts and urged delegates to volunteer, noting that civic participation remains critical to building safer communities across Telangana.
