After a summer holiday school in Tiruch, students welcomed students on Monday. The first day of the new academic year, textbooks, laptops, school bags, stationery, shoes and two sets of uniforms were distributed to children in government and government schools.
A total of 7 79 101 textbooks, 8.65 401 laptops, 1,33,928 sets of school uniforms and 2,41,282 books were divided to 1,297 government and 363 schools in this academic year. Collector M. Pradeep Kumar distributed textbooks, uniforms and other subjects to students at Syed Murthuza Government High School.
About 418 government and auxiliary schools received 31 903 sets of uniforms, 52,071 laptops and 53,877 books. Children in 11 self-financing Tamil-State also received laptops.
A total of 36 301 students studying in the Tamil medium and 5,048 in the English medium from classes 1 to 5 at 751 government and auxiliary schools and 73,827 Tamil medium students and 14,116 English secondary students classes 6 to 12 students at 140 schools in the district of Karur received textbooks and other school items. Textbooks, laptops, school bags, shoes, socks, atlases, crayons, color pencils, geometric boxes and uniforms were distributed to students.
Collector P. Rathinasamy distributed textbooks, uniforms and other items to 462 classes of classes 6 to 12 on the government model of the higher secondary school in Aithinapuram in Ariyalur. Up to 1,32 155 textbooks, 95,086 laptops and 64,610 uniforms were distributed to students studying in government and auxiliary schools in the Ariyalur district. The students were given about 34,448 pairs of socks from classes 6 to 10, 48 168 school bags for classes 6 to 12, 13 966 geometric boxes for classes 6 to 9 and 5 462 books for students of class 6 were distributed to students, said Mr. Rathinasamy.
Previously, the officials had a meeting with the school heads and checked the availability of textbooks and other school subjects. They ensured that the schools were cleaned and repair work are carried out on the premises to welcome children after a month’s break.
