President Mahatma Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi-Vizianagaram Karrotu Satyam, Vizianagaram Indian Red Cross Society President KRD Prasada Rao on Friday asked parents and teachers to encourage students to read ‘The Story of My Experiments with Truth’, Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography, to understand the importance of patience necessary to achieve one’s goals.
On the 78th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, members of the Mahatma Gandhi Smarak Nidhi paid floral tributes to the Gandhi statue at the Vizianagaram District Library premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Satyam said that Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa and achieved the independence of the country in 32 years due to his patience and vision.” He shared that the association had organized essay writing competitions, lectures and other events for students of various schools before the death anniversary.
President Vizianagaram District Pensioners Association Peddinti Apparao, former president Vizianagaram Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Rongali Potanna, honorary president Mahatma Gandhi Smarka Nidhi Tirupati Naidu, vice presidents Edida Veerraju, Kolli Satyam and others attended the event.
