Child dies after falling into septic tank at construction site in Kasaragod

A six-year-old boy died on Sunday (June 7) after falling into a septic tank at a house under construction on Manchathadukka Darga Road in Kasaragod, raising fresh concerns over safety lapses at construction sites.

The victim, Mohammed Ayan Shasim, a UKG student, was the son of Ahmed Shajir and Ashyamma.

According to reports, the child fell into a septic tank while playing near a construction site. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life. The body was later taken to Kasaragod Government General Hospital for postmortem.

The incident drew criticism after it emerged that no security measures were allegedly in place around the building under construction or the septic tank, despite the area being heavily frequented by residents. The absence of protective barriers or warning signs has raised questions about negligence and compliance with basic building safety standards.
