Reacting to allegations of encroachment and unauthorized use of property at MCHS Layout, HSR Sector-6, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and her husband, bureaucrat Rajneesh Goel (retd), have clarified the allegations, calling them “completely false, baseless and based on conjecture”.
The Hindu recently reported on a complaint to the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) with these allegations.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the couple clarified that the property was not allotted to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) as claimed, but was legally allotted to the Metropolitan Co-operative Housing Society Ltd. through a registered deed of sale after completing all legal formalities.
They stated that the building was constructed strictly within the premises in accordance with the approved plans and that all necessary permits for commencement of operations and occupancy were obtained from the relevant authorities. They categorically denied encroaching on any public land, amenity area, government property or footpath.
The couple denied claims of commercial activity at the compound, saying the property was only rented out, which is allowed under housing association rules, while they currently live in government-allocated quarters.
They refuted the allegation of encroachment on the sidewalk, saying there is no designated trail near the property under the approved layout plan. According to the rejoinder, the land is adjacent to a stormwater drain and all structures are within the property’s legal limits. They added that the greenery by the road is maintained individually by residents.
