Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday handed over checks worth ₹23.75 lakh and certificates of appreciation to 13 persons who have been selected at the state level for the year 2024-2025 in the Best Designer and Best Weaver categories by the Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department at the Chennai Secretariat.
Mr. Stalin presented checks totaling ₹20,000 to eight awardees selected in the Best Weaver in Silk and Cotton category, ₹1.50,000 to two awardees selected in the Best Designer category and ₹2.25,000 to three awardees selected in the Best Young Designer category.
Further, the Chief Minister through a video conference laid the foundation stone for 18 new projects in 11 temples under the Department of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments and for another classroom building in the school, which was constructed at a total cost of ₹ 108.9 crore. He also initiated 10 completed renovation works in seven temples and six divisional inspector offices, which were constructed at a cost of ₹15.3 crore. He also inaugurated three bus facilities for devotees at the Subramania Swamy temple in Chennimalai in Erode district.
Minister for Handlooms and Textiles R. Gandhi, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments PK Sekarbabu, Additional Principal Secretary (Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments) K. Manivasan and Secretary (Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi) V. Amuthavalli were among others present.
