Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday said he and his cabinet colleagues will not attend the protest organized by the AICC in Delhi against the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls on November 1 as they will be attending the Rajyotsava celebrations in the state.

Talking to the media in Bengaluru, the Chief Minister said that the Karnataka Rajyotsava will be celebrated in a unique way this time. While he would participate in the celebrations in Bengaluru, his ministerial colleagues would unfurl the national flag in their allotted areas, he noted.

Due to the ill health of Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwar, who is also the Minister in-charge of Tumakuru, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda will perform official duties related to the Karnataka Rajyotsava on his behalf, the Chief Minister said.

While he and the ministers will remain in the state, Congress district and block presidents as well as party workers will attend the protest in Delhi, he said.
