Chief Health Inspector caught accepting bribe for issuing business license in Bengaluru

The Lokayukta police on Tuesday caught the Chief Health Inspector of the Greater Bengaluru Authority allegedly accepting bribe for issuing business license to a dispensary owner.

According to Lokayukta officials, the accused, Shrijesh NK, 52, a senior health inspector attached to Chickpet division in Sajjan Rao Circle, allegedly demanded ₹15,000 from the dispensary owner for processing and issuing the business permit.

The complainant, Nanjegowda BS, 41, who runs a pharmacy in Devarachikkanahalli, approached the Lokayukta alleging that the official was seeking bribe.

Officials said the accused had already accepted ₹5,000 on June 15 and demanded the remaining amount.

Based on the complaint, the Lokayukta registered a case under Section 7(c). a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and set a trap.

The accused was allegedly caught red-handed while taking the remaining ₹10,000 from the complainant.

He has been arrested under the PC Act and further investigation is underway.
