Illinois and Chicago filed a lawsuit on Monday in order to prevent US President Donald Trump administration from sending hundreds of National Guard soldiers to the city, Reuters said.
Like the soldiers prepared, the lawsuits were filed as well as the soldiers to deploy and hours after the federal judge blocked the units to Portland, Oregon. He created a new legal battle for the President’s power to use soldiers to respond to protests against his immigration intervention.
The suit escalated the growing clash between democratic states and President Donald Trump over the use of the National Guard soldiers in cities described as a crime.
The Court, which filed the state Illinois and the city of Chicago, accuses Trump of attempting to use the National Guard soldiers “to punish his political enemies”.
According to Bloomberg, the deployment of the deployment violates the state sovereignty and the right to self -government.
“The Americans, no matter where they live, should not live under the threat of occupation by the United States, especially because their city management or state management fell out of the kindness of the President,” both parties argued in court proceedings.
The White House did not answer immediately to the message looking for a comment.
