The Maoist was killed when meeting with security staff in the Bastar region in Chhattisgarh on Monday, the official said.
The shooting broke out around 9 am in the forest along the boundary of Dantewada and Bijapor districts, located in the Bastar area when the team was out for anti-Maoist surgery, said PTI Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai.
Meanwhile, a woman’s body has been obtained from the meeting place together with the Innsas rifle, he said.
The operation is still ongoing and further details are expected.
