Authorities have seized 3,841 LPG cylinders and registered 97 FIRs in Chhattisgarh to curb the hoarding of cooking gas amid the ongoing war in West Asia, a government official said on Saturday (March 28, 2026).
“The meeting was informed that raids were conducted at 335 locations across the state, no confirmed cases of black marketing were found. However, authorities acting on information related to the hoarding seized 3,841 LPG cylinders and registered 97 FIRs,” the official said, referring to a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai regarding the war zone.
Mr Sai presided over the meeting – which was attended by all Divisional Commissioners, Inspector Generals of Police, District Collectors and Superintendents of Police across the state – through video conferencing from his residential office in Raipur.
The official said that a comprehensive review of the availability and supply of petroleum products, LPG cylinders, fertilizers and other essential commodities was conducted during the meeting.
“In the meeting, the chief minister issued detailed instructions to ensure smooth access to the public,” the official added.
According to a government press release, the CM issued firm instructions for strict action against any cases of hoarding or black marketing of essential commodities.
Regular monitoring of stocks and supplies at all gas stations and gas agencies has been ordered. Officials were urged to work in a spirit of coordination and ensure uninterrupted services to the citizens at all times.
“Hei assured that there is no shortage of petroleum products, LPG cylinders or fertilizers in the state and appealed to the citizens to refrain from rumours,” the statement added.
