The leader of the party of the veteran nationalist Congress of Chhagan Bhujbal, a prominent character in Maharahtra politics, weathed many storms, but managed to remain relevant and took his place as the oldest Minister in the State Cabinet.
Bhujbal, prominent other back -class leaders (OVC), had a busy political career for several decades, and in the last few years he held over water in the middle of changes in Maharashtra politics.
Political career Mr. Bhujbal, born on October 15, 1947, began in Nashic with a political career by Mr. Bujbal with Shiv hay at the age of 80. As a hay leader, Nahurama Gods demanded a key accused of assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai.

Mr Bhujbal left Shiv hay in 1991 and quoted the alleged opposition to Mr. Thackeryy to carry out the recommendations of the Mandal Commission and joined Congress and by 1999, in accordance with the Nationalist Congress side of Sharada (NCP). Between 1999 and 2003 he served as a representative of the main Minister Maharaštra and focused on the questions of the OS. His shift to NCP has strengthened his influence between the OS, although it brought criticism from the former allies.
At the beginning of 2000, the Telgi paper fraud led to the resignation of Mr. Bhujbal as a representative of the main minister in 2003.
At that time, Mr. Sharad Parar pushed him to resign despite any formal charges. The controversy tense his relationship with Mr. Sharad Parwar and influenced his later defection to Ajita Paraw’s faction.
In 2013, however, Mr. Bujbal’s career went down, when the leader of BJP Kirti Somaiya equalized the accusation of corruption in the construction of Maharašna Sadan in Nový Delhi and filed a complaint with the Maharashtra Anti -Corruption Office.
The defendant of the financial discrepancies in the construction of the state pension in Delhi was arrested in 2016 in the prevention of money washing (PMLA) and spent more than two years in prison and claimed to be the “first victim” of the law and was released on bail in 2018.
Mr. Bhujbal’s loyalty moved again in 2023 when he joined Mr. Ajit Pawar led by NCP after a division in a party based on Mr. Sharad Parwar and became part of the Alliance Mahayuti led by Bharatiya Janat.
He quoted dissatisfaction with Mr. Sharad Paraw, especially over Telgi fraud, claiming that the other forced his resignation in 2003, even though there were no accusations against him.
In 2024, Bhujal, who is holding in Yeole in Nashic, opposed the demand of activists Marath Maneoj Jarange after a reservation in the category of the Civil Code. Mr. Jarange was looking for Kunbi certificates for all Marathas to access the benefits of the OBC, which caused Mr. Bhujbal to organize gatherings and meet with community leaders to resist this step. “Marathas will never get a reservation under the quota of the municipality,” he said, challenging the “rear entrance” for Marathas. Mr. Jarange accused Mr. Bhujbal of incitement of tension and claimed that his tongue had caused clashes between the two communities. Mr Bhujbal demanded the caste census and insisted that the maraths would receive separate reservations, as shown in his support 10% of the Maratha quota Act in 2024.
The exclusion of the leader of the veteran from the cabinet Devendra Fadnavis in December 2024 led to protests of activists of the Civil Code. The omission has also caused speculation about their next step, some of which indicate the return to Mr. Sharad Pawar’s fold or shift to Bharatiya Janata.
Mr Bhujbal’s attorney formed his political identity for the Civil Reserve. His opposition towards Mr. Jarange’s requirements strengthened his support among voters of the OS, but alienated Maratha Community and influenced his re -election of Yeoly from 2024.
His ability to mobilize voters and navigate Maharashtra’s Dynamics keeps it relevant despite controversies.
