The Indian dough of Cheteshwar Pujara tilted the legendary Spinner Ravicandran Ashwin as an ideal candidate that took over the coaching role of the national team in the future. Ashwin, renowned for his tactical nous and the ability to overcome the opponents with Bat and Ball, announced his retirement from the international cricket in December 2024. His final performance came in Border-Gavaska TROPHY 2024-25, where he played the second test after the third match in Brisbane.
A 37 -year -old man closed his career as the second most successful pitch in India across the formats and ended with 765 goals. In the test cricket he claimed 537 goals, for the record record Anil Kumble 619. His last test trip came in Adelaide, where he secured the last international goal to further strengthen his heritage.
In the sincere session of Q&A, EsPncricinfo was asked to most likely become an Indian coach. He replied without hesitation, “Ravichandran Ashwin.”
Ashwin’s last trip in a competitive cricker came in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, where he represented Chennai Super Kings. The season, however, proved to be forgotten for off-spinner and its franchise. Ashwin managed only seven goals in nine matches, admitted 283 runs, while CSK descended the campaign and finished the bottom of the table with only four victories out of 14 matches. In the middle of the season, Captain Ruturaj’s injury continued to derail their chances.
Pujara was also thinking about the plague of the future of India. When asked which player is likely to end up with all the main records, he answered: “Virat Kohli.”
Kohli, who is widely considered one of the largest Indian test captains, left the longest format after the unsatisfactory Trophy Border-Gavascar 2024-25 in Australia, where he scored only 190 runs in five tests. His latest international performance came in ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where the undefeated India defeated New Zealand in the finals at the International Stadium in Dubai.
