(PTI Photo) (PTI07_30_2025_000548B) Chennai: Indian chess could re -exhibit at the recent Batumi World Championship, where the winner of Divy Destymukh scripted a hat -trick of extraordinary successes.Wonder, the latest Grand Masters of the Earth, was powered by her teenage spirit, although she was not among the favorite chances to secure the crown.“We (Gukesh and Divya) basically grew up together. We played in the same tournaments just since we were eight or nine years old. The way Studya won the World Cup was really inspiring.“Both (Divya and Lost Finalist, Humpy Konero) played amazingly well. For Indian chess, it is important that we have good results in men (open) and women.”India can complete a double worldcup when the global tournament is hosted in the country at the end of this year. While the Chess World Fide control body announced the action data – October 30 to 27 November – the host city has to be completed.

Who do you think is currently the most inspiring character in Indian chess?
“I will definitely take part in the World Cup. I am really excited and I look forward to it. We do not have many knockout events in chess, so the world championship is the biggest knockout.
