Chennai user gets special mention in Swiggy Instamart’s 2025 report on consumer shopping habits thanks to ₹1.06 million worth of condom orders throughout the year.
Yes, you read that right! A Chennai Instamart user has only bought condoms worth more than one crore in a year. The quick-shop app joked it as a light-hearted testament to “planning ahead.”
In its annual report ‘How India Instamarted’, Swiggy revealed that one account in Chennai placed 228 separate orders for condoms, totaling ₹1,06,398.
Swiggy data showed that 1 in every 127 Instamart orders included a condom, and the naughtiest month was September – condom purchases peaked in the 9th month of the year, growing by 24%.
Another Chennai user has become ‘Pet Parent of the Year’ on Instamart after ordering pet supplies worth ₹2.41 million in 2025.
The highest spending of 2025
Swiggy Instamart’s top spender in 2025 was a user from Kochi, Kerala who spent more than ₹22 lakhs – adding everything to the cart, from 22 iPhone 17, 24K gold coins, a Philips fryer and even everyday items like Tic Tacs, milk, eggs, ice cream and fresh fruit.
Other big-ticket Instamart moments include:
- A gadget enthusiast in Hyderabad spent ₹4.3 million on three iPhone 17 with a single tap.
- Noida techno-holic spent ₹2.69 lakh on Bluetooth speakers, SSDs and robotic vacuum cleaners in one go.
- One user from Bengaluru went into full festive mode this Diwali and bought a silver brick worth 1 kg ₹1,97,000 from Instamart.
Swiggy Instamart’s Everyday Heroes
According to 2025 trends, curry leaves, dahi, eggs, milk and bananas were the real MVPs of the cuisine, dominating repeat orders across India.
Swiggy also found a die-hard curry leaf lover who they said placed 368 curry leaf orders, practically one for every day of the year.
By 2025, India has ordered more than 4 packets of milk per second, which would be enough to fill more than 26,000 Olympic swimming pools, Swiggy said.
India’s love of milk was also highlighted in their order history – Paneer outsold cheese by more than half. And for every 10 cheese orders, about 9 were for butter and spreads.
Only masala flavored chips could satisfy a late night binge in the Indian language. These chips took first place for late night orders in 9 of the top 10 cities.
Instamart Cart Champions of 2025
According to Swiggy’s report, some of India’s “heaviest hitters” came from these four cities, each with a strong user base to cross the 1,000 order mark in 2025:
- Calcutta: 1,197 orders
- Mumbai: 1,142
- Kochi: 1,089
- Gurgaon: 1,033
Prime time for Instamart was between 7:00am and 11:00am and again from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
