
Ahead of the much-anticipated India vs Zimbabwe clash, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has stepped up to make it a day to remember for fans of the match on Thursday, February 26. CMRL has announced free metro rides for match ticket holders to facilitate travel for spectators attending the match at MA Chepadambar Stadium. Fans can use their physical match tickets, which contain a unique QR code, to access Metro services by scanning the code at the AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gates.

Each ticket holder is allowed one return journey from any metro station to Government Estate metro station and back on match day. The initiative is designed to handle the expected full stadium attendance. CMRL has planned special night operations and will extend train services till midnight to meet the demand of travel matches. The last trains on Thursday will leave Government Estate station at 12:00 noon, one for Wimco Nagar Depot and the other for Airport Line.
To ensure smooth transitions for late night commuters, CMRL has imposed restrictions on the interchange of the Green Line after 11:00 PM. Passengers who need to transfer to the Green Line during this period will be able to do so only at Chennai Central Station. The entrance to Government Estate station closes ten minutes before the last train departs, so commuters are advised to plan their arrivals accordingly.

“As part of this initiative, the event organizer is sponsoring metro rides for match attendees on the day of the event. Importantly, the match tickets (unique QR codes) will also serve as CMRL metro tickets which will be distributed by the event organizer to the match attendees. INDIA IN A MUST-WIN SITUATION
The Super 8 clash will be a high-stakes game for India as the hosts cannot afford to lose at this stage. After a tough loss to South Africa in Ahmedabad, India will have to beat Zimbabwe on Thursday and hope that the result in South Africa vs West Indies game it will work in their favor.
A loss to Zimbabwe will mean the defending champions are all but out of the competition and spoil their title defense dreams.
