The Tamil Nadu government decided to move the statue of late actor “Kalaivanar” NS Kršnan from Gopathi Narayanaswami Chetty Road to campus on the Wallajah road, where Kalaivanar Arangam is located.
The decision of the main Minister MK Stalin to relocate the statue was followed by a representation from the actor’s family.
Initial installation
After the actor died in August 1957, his statue was installed at the GN Chenetty Road-Thirumalai Pillai Road in January 1969, when he was the main Minister of CN Annadurai.
In 2008, when an overpass was built, the statue was moved to the current place at the same intersection.
According to official release, the statue would soon be safely moved to the Kalaivanar Arangam campus, which is under the control of the Ministry of Information and Public Relations.
