Chennai Super Kings fans thronged the MA Chidambaram Stadium in large numbers on Friday, April 3, for their first home match of the 2026 Indian Premier League season. At the draw, when broadcaster Ian Bishop was scheduled to interview CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai crowd gave their leader a huge welcome.
The noise when Ruturaj took the microphone was so loud that Bishop was forced to interrupt the conversation with the CSK captain. Gaikwad paused, soaking up the atmosphere, then tried to answer Bishop’s question.

Even after the noise had dropped to about 30 percent of the original, the stadium was still loud enough for Bishop to have trouble hearing Gaikwad. The commentator pulled the CSK captain closer and apologized saying he had not heard anything Gaikwad was saying.
Bishop asked the captain what he thought of the pitch as Punjab Kings won the toss and sent CSK to bat first.
“Well, I mean, you know, it’s looking a little bit on the drier side to me. And I don’t think it’s going to change much. It’s going to stay the same for the most part. And, you know, it’s early April, so I don’t think the dew is going to be a key factor in the second innings. So I think it’s riding the board after the delay and you can definitely count on this track,” Rujt Gaikwadtura said.
Gaikwad mentioned that CSK made one change to their line-up for their first home match, with Prashant Veer replacing Matt Henry.
