Chennai Corporation to privatize operations of 6 Padaipagams

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) plans to privatize the operation and maintenance of six Padaipagam facilities in Zone 6 at an estimated cost of ₹1.42 crore.

The facilities are located at Jawahar Nagar, Jaganathan Street, Kanigapuram, Otteri, Mangalapuram and Pulianthope in north Chennai.

Jaganathan Street Padaipagam was allocated ₹ 41.58 lakh. The operation and maintenance of each of the remaining five facilities was estimated at ₹ 16.18 lakh.

The project also includes security arrangements at the Zonal Office of Zone 6 at a cost of ₹ 19.97 lakh. It provides for the deployment of three security personnel in three shifts every day for a period of one year.

With an allocation of ₹ 16.18 lakh, each of the five Padaipagam facilities will have seven staff – two receptionists, two sweepers, two watchmen and an electrician operator.

As per the project estimate, ₹ 4.97 lakh has been allocated for receptionist, ₹ 4.12 lakh for sweeper, ₹ 3.90 lakh for security guard and ₹ 3.17 lakh for electrician operator in each of these centres.
