Chenab Railway Bridge Inauguration: The highest railway bridge in the world, named Chenab Railway Bridge, starts today on June 6 with premiere Narendra Modim.
This inauguration comes on the occasion of the EID-AL-ADHA festival. This means a landmark on Indian infrastructure.
- The first proposal to connect the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country on the railway dates back to the 70s, which was during the former premiere of Indire Gandhi.
- This specific project received a formal approval in 1994 at a cabinet meeting, chaired by its successor to PV Narasimha Rao.
- Construction work on this project was launched in 2002, which was when the financing for land acquisition approved the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
This project, designed for exceptional durability, will end for more than 70 years for direct train service to Kashmir. In addition, today PM Modi will mark two Vande Bharat Express trains. These trains combine Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar and provide a quick, comfortable and reliable travel option. The first passenger train gets to Srinagar after the release from Delhi via the pilgrimage town of Katra.
