In a modern cricket, fast pitch -mounted rope walks. A well -focused ejector can be the highest on the stands. Almost perfect Yorker could still disappear for four with movement. But if the edges in the field are tight, try to survive those on the social media. Jasprit Bumrah learned hard.
The day after India sealed the exciting victory in the oval to ensure Anderson-Dendulkar Trophy, Bumrah published a photo-railing on Instagram his standout moments from the series. There was a celebration, but a will. Some of the fans accused him of jealous. Yes, jealous – for not explicitly mentioning Mohammed Siri.
“Why are you jealous? You should praise Siraj,” one commentator said.
While India vs England developed on the oval, the social media had its own drama: Siraj vs Bumhrah. Suddenly, the Instagram post became a Rorschach test, while the fans read rivalry in routine content.
The facts were straight. Bumrah played three out of five tests on the workload plan. In these three he raised 14 goals – all in India matches did not win. Meanwhile, Siraj played all five, bowing to the stunning 185.3 within 45 days and led the Indian pace of attack on the oval with nine goals in the referee. When India looked down and out, it was Siraj – ran on vapors, but powered by gravel – who bowed them to one of their most dramatic overseas victories.
Why Jeer Bumrah?
But in the Indian cricket, applause turns into a shocking speed. A few months ago, Bumrah was considered a great generation – a man who dismantled Australia in white before inspiring India to triumph of the World Cup T20. He is now asked about his obligation.
Some even chose statistics to support a new story: India wins more tests without bumstaries in XI.
And it wasn’t just marginal noise. Scientists also started feeding. Before the series, when it was announced, Bumrah will play only three tests, conversations focused on which three and how to manage the series victory, or at least a draw, with its limited availability.
Then Siraj lit the oval and the tone moved. The redesigned viral line – since “I believe only in Jassi Bhai” to “India only believes in Siraj Bhai” – she deserved for sure. But did we really need to lower the bumrah down?
Siraj deserves every piece of celebration. But why pull Bumhrah across the mud – a pitch that has been an Indian non -duty since his debut?
Jarrod Kimber in his book test: An unauthorized biography will expand Fuzzy the idea of the “Cryt” spirit. He writes: “Mostly the spirit of cricket is a huge, heavy, imaginary version of the Bible. You can use any part of it to prove that you are in the spirit of the game, and any part that proves that your opposition is not.”
Statistics are not so abstract. But they can also be twisted to suit the story.
Take the current hot view:
- India with Bumurah in this series: 0 wins.
- India without it: 2 wins.
After India won the second test in Birmingham-Ten Bumrah Zmeškal-known transmitter published Stat: India won 46 tests without bum from his debut and only 27 with him.
This was for easy tweet, rich in engagement, light on context.
Who is responsible for many domestic tests that India won without needing Bumhrah? Who remembers that he hadn’t played one home test for three years after his debut?
Yes, Siraj appeared in this decade in every test victory in hay for India. However, this does not mean that Bumrah was insufficiently powerful. Before the debut, India won only 18 out of 113 hay tests – a percentage of win 16. Since Bumrah entered the scene? It climbed to 31. Courtesy: ARUN UNIYAL, ITGD Design
He was the central Indian gold era in the fast bowling-he was a victory in Australia to victory in Australia and England in 2021-22. Do we forget the championship class in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 trophy? If it were suitable for the last test, India could maintain a trophy.
Tendulkar calls absurdity
Even Sachin Tendulkar, which rarely weighs the drama on social media, He called Anti-Bumerah’s rhetoric absurdity.
“Bumhrah started really well-in the first test took five goals. He did not play the second, but returned for the third and fourth. In Lordov he raised another five goals.
“The quality of Bumhrah is only exceptional. It has ever achieved incredible. He was undoubtedly a consistent artist. I would put him directly on the top with anyone else.”
Manage workload is not for Bumhrah luxury
Yes, the Indian team with a workload management plan was not particularly well processed. The announcement before the series that Bumrah will play only three out of five tests, in a sense gave England an early advantage. And as fate should, the final test became a judge after a sensational draw in Manchester. When many expected Bumrah to push harder and return to the finals, he was restored instead – released before the test – attracted more criticism, especially while Siraj bowed his heart on the oval.
Bumrah, the proven winner of the match, has bowed to the international cricket 2572.5 overs since the debut in 2016. Only Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Tim Southee, Kagiso Rabada, Josh Hazlewood and Jason holder more bowed-and all of them had luxury of their assignment. Bumrah did not have this freedom, especially with Indian Premier League, which is for a star Indian player who cannot be determined.
Since 2020, only seven pitching exceeded the test cricket. Bumrah bowed 1106.1 in only 67 shifts. Siraj, compared to, bowed 1069.5 overs – but across 76 shifts. Despite playing nine fewer shifts, Bumrah sent in the longest format 46 other exceeding. What does it tell us? That every piece was a work horse. In fact, the captains were more often based on him in chrost – and is usually delivered.
But Bumrah is not just a fast pitch. It is a biomechanical miracle, a slingshot in motion, defying rhythm and symmetry, generating the threat of angles that no textbook can explain. This unique, irreparable action is also ruthless on the body. Expecting infinitely mixed without consequences is the misunderstanding of the magic itself that makes it special. The management of workload is therefore not a luxury. It is the responsibility of maintaining a weapon once in a generation, not only for today, but for wars that are yet to come.
