The engineering team within the local government department (LSGD) began to evaluate the condition of school buildings in the Kozhikode district to ensure the safety of students because the new academic year is around the corner. About 1300 school buildings will be subject to the ongoing fitness control in accordance with the security instructions of the state government.
This process is expected to cover all governments supported and without help in two weeks. According to revised standards, the fitness certificate will be mandatory for temporary equipment organized for the development or maintenance of existing buildings. Instructions were also issued to schools to complete all maintenance work by May 27.
Officials of the Ministry of Education have confirmed that fitness control will be complex and will include equipment, electronic equipment and office accessories. Before the release of fitness certificates, the status of wells, drinking water systems and comfort stations would be supplied.
The engineer associated with the inspection team said that any security deficiencies they have seen during the field inspections would lead to temporarily detention of fitness certificates according to Keral education rules. He added that this process would ensure that all buildings would resist the monsoon -related challenges.
The heads of several Grama Panchayats said that all emergency maintenance was completed in most schools after consultation with the Associations of Parents-Teachers. They pointed out that ongoing maintenance work in several buildings can be completed within a week.
According to officials, school buildings built in environmentally sensitive areas will have to go through several levels of inspections, except that they are now performing an engineering wing of LSGD. The instructions previously issued by the State Commission of Keral for the Protection of Child Rights will also be observed in the case of such buildings.
On school buildings in the mountain areas of the Kozhikode district, the incidents of cracks were isolated due to frequent explosions from the quarry. Several management took over the problem with the higher authorities and the aim of undressing that in such cases there was no justifiable rejection of the fitness certificate, and that the concerns of the quarry operators should make expenditures on the maintenance of the work.
