At the meeting of the Parliamentary Permanent Housing Committee and urban affairs in Nový Delhi on Wednesday, MP Bongir Chaman Kiran Kumar Reddy made a strong reason for an urgent sanction from Hyderab Metro Phase II.
The deputy stressed that Hyderabad Metro Phase I, sanctioned in 2010, is currently the second largest metro in the country, after Delhi, with three corridors, including 69 km.
Despite demand, the city is still waiting for a green signal for phase II, which proposes five courses covering 76.4 km at an estimated cost of 24,269 Crore, he said.
He said that a formal request was laid before the committee to speed up the sanction with details of the approved funding formula. He said that the share of the Indian government will have 4,230 GBP crore, while the TELANGANY government will spend 7,313 Crore and the remaining Crore 11,693 GBP will be increased by debt.
Mr. Reddy recalled that the Indian government approved metro projects in 20 cities between 2012 and 2024, Chennai Metro Phase-II II with 63,240 GBP Crore and Bengalur Metro Phase III with 15,611 GBP Crore. “Hyderabad deserves a similar level of support,” he said.
