UBT Shiv Sena leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday (April 17, 2026) lamented the defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, even as her party voted against it in the lower house. Without naming Ms Chaturvedi, when asked about her comments, the Shiv Sena UBT said it had “destroyed the BJP’s conspiracy to introduce a demarcation law in the garb of women’s reservation”.
“Sad day for Indian women who were hoping to find themselves in parliament or assembly,” Ms Chaturvedi wrote on X. Soon after, she also said: “I have a stand on women’s reservation which I have consistently stood for and will continue to stand for. Deal with it.” Along with it was a poster that read: “I will not water myself to make myself more digestible for you. You may suffocate respectfully.”
