Kanchi Kamakoti Peetaadhipati Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal published a reprint edition of “Acharya’s Call” – two volumes of discourses by Mahaperiyava, Jagadguru Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal, published during the years H57-1919.
After offering the books at the Brindavanams of Mahaperiyava and Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal in Kancheepuram, the Pope gave the first copy to Nirmala Lakshman, Chairperson, THG Publishing Private Limited, The Hindu Group.
During the Acharya’s stay at the Madras Sanskrit College in 1957-58, he blessed the devotees with daily discourses on various topics of our Dharma, Vedas, Shastras, Puranas, Itihasaas, Sthala Mahatmyams, philosophy and culture.
These were recorded by the Hindu’s then Deputy Chief Correspondent V. Ramakrishnan and reported in The Hindu under space and other constraints. V. Ramakrishnan, with the support of a Hindu family, then wrote and compiled all the discourses of the Mahaswami in full, with Sanskrit quotations, etc. This was published in two volumes as “Acharya’s Call” in 1964 as a tribute on the occasion of the 75th Jayanti of Mahaperiyava. The book was reprinted in 1995 and in 2022.
Recently the book has been reorganized with thematic categorization to make it easy for the readers and this reprint has been published and released during the auspicious Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami Mahotsavam. A similar chronicle of Mahaswami’s talks in Chittoor district during 1930–1932 was published as “Chronicles of Kanchi Acharya”.
Sridhar Aranala, Chief Sales & Distribution Officer, KG Gurumurthy, Head-Pre-Press and R. Srinivasan, Head – Magazines and Special Publications of The Hindu Group were present. The price of the book cover is CZK 400. It can be purchased from The Hind online bookstore at https://publications.thehindugroup.com/bookstore/.
