Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday addressed farmers at a ‘rachabanda’ organized in Kamalapuram constituency of Kadapa district.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to farmers to shun the beaten path and use modern technology to reduce the cost of cultivation and also achieve better yields.
After distributing the second tranche of funds under Annadata Sukhibhava – PM Kisan to farmers at Pendlimarri in Kamalapuram constituency of Kadapa district on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu also advocated the use of natural farming methods to maintain soil fertility.
In a veiled reference, he suggested that some governments would not help the farming community, but the NDA regime would certainly help farmers in need.
“During such governments, farmers will have to face problems if they don’t seize the opportunity and stand on their own feet,” he opined.
Due to the ‘twin-engine sarkar’ at the center and the state, farmers were getting all the support from the government.
Mr. Naidu also told farmers to think beyond conventional cultivation and go for food processing and value addition to make farming profitable.
“You have to think about saving water and also go for demand-driven crops to reduce costs and increase profit,” was his tip to farmers.
Accompanied by the farmers, Mr. Naidu visited the Gromor fertilizer store where he saw the fertilizers meant for sale to the farmers. When the chief minister found the drone on display, he advised farmers to use it to sow seeds and spray pesticides to reduce labor costs.
Along with the farmers, Mr. Naidu sat in front of a giant screen and watched Prime Minister Narendra Modi deliver his virtual address during the release of the second tranche of funds. About 1,94,047 farmers across Kadapa district benefited from the release of ₹131.37 crore.
Later, Mr. Naidu went on a tractor along with farmers to a nearby field in Dasarapalle village to inspect the crops, where he received a rousing reception with traditional ‘harathi’ women.
He became inquisitive and asked the farmers a variety of questions, including practices adopted to protect standing crops from pest infestation, yield amounts, and marketing techniques.
