Chandrababu Naidu accuses YSRCP of derailing Andhra Pradesh’s development agenda

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of systematically thwarting the state’s development agenda through misinformation, undue political interference and hate campaigns aimed at dissuading investment, while reiterating that the coalition NDA government was committed to both social programs and economic development.
During a media interaction here, Mr Naidu claimed that YSRCP leaders were trying to get credit for various projects launched by his government, though they failed to attract investment during 2019-24. He further accused the previous government of driving out industries, allocating disputed land to companies, blocking valuable mineral resources, and creating long-term legal complications that culminated in irreparable damage to industrial expansion.
“Malicious Campaign”
Mr. Naidu leveled serious allegations against the YSRCP, saying that individuals connected to the party were funding social media platforms to target both him and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan through constant criticism and misinformation. “The previous government ruthlessly promoted a culture of violence, factional politics and intimidation. At the same time, large-scale ganja cultivation flourished in agency areas under its administration. Those responsible for the Tirumala laddu adulteration controversy are now lecturing on ethics and governance,” the chief minister said.
Kuppam growth model
Mr. Naidu said that Kuppam has witnessed an unprecedented inflow of industrial investment supported by improved roads, communication networks and overall connectivity. “The government intends to replicate the Andhra Pradesh constituency development model through decentralized planning and regional growth strategies,” the Chief Minister said.
“There is no doubt that we are aggressively pursuing investments in emerging sectors such as quantum computing and semiconductor manufacturing. The quantum computing center at Amaravati is expected to be operational by December. Our state is also expanding renewable energy generation through solar and wind power while strengthening modern energy infrastructure,” Naidu said.
The Chief Minister said that corporate giants in steel manufacturing are competing to set up projects in the state. At the same time, the government protected the environment and resolved decades-old land disputes to facilitate investment.
Referring to water management in the Kuppam region, Mr. Naidu said water has reached the area through the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) canal. “The Galeru-Nagari Irrigation Project will also be completed at the earliest to enhance water security in the drought-prone region,” the Chief Minister said.
