
Former Jharkhand CM and BJP leader Champai Soren posted on X on Wednesday that his grandson Veer Soren died after his “health suddenly deteriorated in Manali, Himachal Pradesh”.
“It is with deep sadness that we inform you that our beloved grandson Veer Sorin passed away untimely on 24 February 2026. After his health suddenly deteriorated in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, he was rushed to the hospital, but fate had other plans. Our family has been shattered by Veer’s passing.
The Sorin family,” wrote Champai Soren on X.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren condoled the death of Veer Soren, grandson of Champai Soren.
Veer Soren died in Kulu, Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, February 24. He was 19 years old.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden demise of Veer Soren, grandson of Champai Soren, in Kulu. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace at the feet of Marang Buru and may the bereaved family be given strength to bear this unbearable grief. We stand with them in this hour of deep sorrow,” Soren.
What happened to Veer Soren?
According to a TOI report, Veer Soren and his friends visited Manali on February 22 and stayed with a family in Sims.
Police said Veer and his friends visited the Solang Valley and Sethan villages on the Hemta Pass route on Monday, February 23 and returned to their accommodation in the evening.
On Tuesday, February 24, Veer’s friends left but the 19-year-old stayed back in the room. After his friends returned, Veer told them that he was experiencing severe headache, TOI reported quoting the police.
His friends gave him medicine and Veer went to sleep after taking it. At around 2.30pm the same day, Veer’s friends heard the sound of Soren falling from his bed – he was found unconscious on the floor – foaming at the mouth.
Veer was immediately rushed to a government hospital in Manali where doctors performed CPR – but after an examination – he was declared brought dead.
Veer Soren’s cause of death
The cause of Veer Soren’s death is yet to be ascertained. According to TOI, the Manali DSP said the cause of the 19-year-old’s death will be known after the post-mortem report is released.
