On Friday, the National Make-up Workshop Keral Sangeethha Nataka, ChamayAppura, led by a prominent make-up artist Pattanam Rasheed. Film director Kamal formally inaugurated the workshop and talked about the often overlooked but essential role of makeup in the visual narrative.
“Like acting, makeup is helpful in connecting the story and his characters with the audience. Unfortunately, many do not recognize its meaning,” said Mr. Kamal. He quoted the film celluloid and stressed how Mr. Rasheed’s makeup championship brought actor Prithvi to the true personality of JC Daniel, the first filmmaker of Kerala. “It wasn’t just a transformation of the actor, but a complete recreation of the era and his people. That’s Rasheed’s genius,” he said.
Executive member of the Academy of Saheer Ali chaired office. Academy secretary Karivellur Murali and program officer VK Anilkumar.
Mr. Rasheed described the beginning of the first session of the demonstrations of live transformation. In front of the captivated audience of participants, cameras and artistic enthusiasts began to apply make -up to actors Sunil Sukhada and gradually transformed him into an older man.
“I am still a student in the world of makeup,” Mr. Rasheed said. He expressed his desire to make make-up artistic art more people, except for a few experts outside the domain.
He added: “This workshop is part of a larger dream to professionalize the field and give everyone a chance to learn. When I teach others, I continue to learn new things. This is the beauty of this artistic form.” Mr. Rasheed also appreciated the Academy’s initiative in recognition of the importance of makeup through such a national seminar.
Mr. Kamal distributed the workshop sets to 30 selected participants and officially launched practical training.
The ChamayAppura workshop, which participates in artists from all over the country, will be until June 26.
