On Saturday, the leaders of the “Navabouddha” called the State Government to include a column of religion in the caste, which will be carried out in the state from May 5 and invite members of the community to mention their religion as “Navabouddha” and Caste as Chalavadi or Holeyar.
The State Congressor Bharatiya Mula Nivasi Dravid Okku Shankar Ajamani and other office bearers, while adding press entities in Hubball on Saturday, turned to community members to adhere to the ideology of Baba Saheb Ambedkara and said that in the 90s he transformed Buddhism.
Mr. Shankar said they had already submitted a memorandum to the Commission of the Justice HN Nagmohan Das as regards the education of enumerators about the mention of religion during the caste census and adding that they would address members of the community through the media to mention the “Navabouddha” in the religion column and “Chalavadi” “Chalavadi” or “Chalavadi” or “Chalavadi” or “Chalavadi” or “Chalavadi” or “Chalavadi”.
As a question, he stated that the Okkuta would perform extensive programs to raise awareness of the need to mention religion and caste, and would also address community organizations to perform awareness programs to sensitize community members. “Since the census will be done in three phases, we want young men and women from the community to sensitize members of the community in this respect,” he said.
Mr. Shankar said that a community member was known under various caste names such as Adi Karnataka, Adi David, Adi Andhra and others and asked them to identify themselves as “Chalavadi” or “Holyar”.
The Ganesh Doddamani community leader explained that the mention of “Navaboudha” in the religion column would not affect the reservation. Other leaders, Manjunath Gudimani, Fakkirappa Chalavadi, Indumath Shiragavi, Shankar Buddappanavar were also present.
