CET: Preliminary results of the third round announced, option 4 introduced

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) announced the preliminary results of the third round of seat allotment for engineering and other courses on Friday (September 4).

For the convenience of candidates newly allotted seats in the third round, the authority has introduced Choice-4 for the first time. Such candidates can choose Choice-4 by 5 pm on Saturday (September 5) and exit the counseling process, said H. Prasanna, Executive Director, KEA.

Applicants who have been allotted seats in the second round have taken admission in the college and participated in the third round only for promotion, but they are compulsorily required to continue the admission in the college. They will not have option 4. Hence such candidates have to wait for the final results.

After the announcement of the final results, the candidates must compulsorily take admission in the allotted college without giving any reason for not doing so. If the candidate decides that he does not want the engineering seat, he will have to pay the prescribed fee along with a penalty of five times the fee. The authority also warned that such cases will be treated as blocking of the government quota seat and legal action may be taken against the candidates.

KEA officials said that after including all the seats vacated by the candidates who opted for Choice-4, the authority will restart the seat allocation in the third round by considering the existing options/preferences and then announce the final results.

Third round results also include courses like Architecture, Yoga and Naturopathy, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, BSc Nursing, BPharm, Pharm-D, BPT, BPO and Allied Health Sciences.
