Apple Intelligence will soon support more languages, including local English support for India. The announcement was announced by CEO Tim Cook on the company’s Q1 fiscal year 2025 revenue call. The Cupertino-based technology giant’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features is currently available in English only, but the company plans to expand support to more languages starting in April. While Hindi is one of these new languages, the company will introduce support for specific English in India with wireless updates.
Apple Intelligence will support more languages
During the quarterly earnings call, Cook announced: “We are pleased to provide Apple intelligence in more languages this April.” The CEO also revealed the company’s revenue details and will be held from October to December 2024 The period is called “the best quarter we have ever had.” Notably, Apple claims to have revenue of US$124.3 billion (about Rs 10.8 billion).
Apple’s first quarter of this fiscal year is marked by the launch of the iPhone 16 series, with Apple intelligence being a major topic. However, AI features were not launched until December’s iOS 18.1 update, and they still only support English (localized to Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK and the US).
Cook solved the issue and announced that starting in April, the company’s AI suite will support multiple new languages. These include Chinese, English (Indian), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese. Apple’s support page also states that support for other languages will be added, but no mention of those languages is made. It is worth noting that Hindi is not part of the planned expansion.
iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro models, iPad models with A17 Pro or M1 and Newer, and iPad models with M1 and newer MAC devices are currently available with Apple Intelligence. These features only work if the device is set up as a supported language and has 7GB of storage.
Some of the AI features offered by Apple Intelligence include Genmoji, image playground, writing tools, cleaning photos, natural language search in photos, notification summary, priority messages in emails, smart replies in emails and messages, and ChatGpt integration in Siri , and more.
