After the children from the village of Kempayyana Hatti in Dodalathur Gram Panchayat in Hanur Taluk wrote to the chief Minister Siddaramaiaha, who emphasized the lack of water that influenced their parents’ agricultural activities, Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat visited the village to hear their complaint.
During his visit, the villagers informed her that Kempayana Hatti has no problem with drinking water, because Gram Panchayat supplies it daily. However, the inhabitants of the neighboring village of Anjaneyanadoddi with approximately 25 to 30 houses complained that they were getting water only twice a week. Given that the CEO ordered Panchayat officials to ensure a daily or at least alternative van to the village.
The official was informed that the lack of rain in Hanur Taluk led to exhaustion of groundwater. The CEO ordered the Panchayat authorities to prefer rainwater collection, construction of percolation pits, controls of dams, tanks rejuvenation and other natural resources management work to improve groundwater levels.
The parents of the children who wrote CM reported that modest precipitation reduced groundwater, affected their crops, and demanded that tanks and streams in the Ramapura area were filled to alleviate their difficulties. In response to their requests, the CEO assured that it would be discussed with the departments concerned and the necessary steps would be taken.
