Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) labor president and former minister KT Rama Rao has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government of deliberately delaying the sanction of the Mega Power Loom Cluster for Sircilla, calling it nothing less than a political vendetta against Telangana and its weaving community.
In a letter to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, he said this discriminatory approach revealed the Centre’s continued apathy despite Sircilla fulfilling all eligibility norms under the Comprehensive Powerloom Cluster Development Scheme (CPCDS).
KTR said that the demand for Mega Power Loom Cluster for Sircilla is not new and besides holding several face-to-face meetings with Union Ministers over the last twelve years, he has sent several letters to the Union Government.
He said that even the Central teams have confirmed the eligibility of Sircilla as per CPCDS norms. “If it is not merit, then why this continued neglect? Is Telangana being punished for political reasons?” he asked.
More than 30,000 power plants appear in Sircilla
Describing Sircilla as the backbone of Telangana’s textile economy, KTR pointed out that the region is home to more than 30,000 power farms and provides livelihood to thousands of families. He criticized the Center for sanctioning Mega Clusters to regions in other states with much lower capacity and manpower and ignoring Sircilla.
KTR further explained that the previous government of Telangana had completed all the preparatory work for the Mega Cluster, including allotment of land, uninterrupted power and water supply, clearance of individual windows and incentives at the state level.
Taking aim at the Centre, he said the BJP government is talking loudly about ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ but is failing to support one of the most capable textile hubs in the country. “This exposes the double standard and lack of sincerity of the BJP,” he observed.
KTR accused BJP MPs and union ministers from Telangana of completely failing to protect the interests of the state. He demanded that the upcoming Union Budget must officially announce the Sircilla Mega Power Loom Cluster, ending the decades-long injustice.
