Central University of Karnataka has earned international recognition after its student chapter won the Best Large Chapter Award at IEEE MAPCON 2025, one of the world’s largest conferences in the field of radio frequency and microwave engineering.
Central University received the Best Large Chapter Award – Student Branch IEEE MTT-S (Microwave Theory and Technological Society), selected from among 12 large chapters worldwide, highlighting the university’s excellence in technical activities and international research involvement.
IEEE MAPCON 2025 was held in Kochi, Kerala and was attended by 45 countries, consisting of more than 1,800 delegates and more than 250 experts from leading academic institutions, research laboratories and industries.
ISRO Chairman V Narayanan along with DRDO Director General BK Das and NASA Chief Scientist Gautam Chattopadhyay, among others, inaugurated the conference.
From the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of the University, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Paramesha and Nrusingha C. Pradhan attended the conference and served as the Chair.
Mr. Pradhan was also part of the core organizing team of the conference and received a travel grant of ₹1.52 lakh in recognition of his contribution.
The participation of students from the university was remarkable, with 18 selected to volunteer at the conference through a competitive selection process at national level.
Students received conference registration, accommodation and travel support. In addition, Sowjanya, a student of the university, received ₹80,000 for attending the conference.
On their return, the faculty members and students met the Vice-Chancellor Battu Satyanarayana and apprised him of the achievements.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the awardees and urged the students to continue contributing to national research goals.
