
Five projects submitted by faculty members of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady have received a total financial assistance of ₹ 31 lakh under the Ministry of Education’s central schemes for the promotion of Sanskrit.
The projects have been approved for support under ‘Ashaadashi’ (18 projects) which are part of Sanskrit promotion programs in the country, implemented through Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi.
The project on ‘Critical Edition and Study of Prodyota’s Commentary on Prayogamanjari’ received a grant of ₹9 lakh. A grant of ₹10 lakh was given for the project ‘Contemporary Sanskrit Literature: A Reflection of Society, Education and Culture’.
The Ministry of Education sanctioned ₹5,000 for the project “Digital Study Tools for Keralodaya: Translation of Commentary and Analysis”. A funding amount of ₹ 6,000 was provided for the project titled “Hastalakshanadeepika – Text and its interpretation based on the traditional art form of Kerala Kathakali”. A vocational education project to promote Sanskrit received ₹100,000 in aid, according to the release.
Faculty members who have received central project funding include KM Sangamesan (Sanskrit Sahitya), Lisha CR, Sivaja S. Nair, Athira Jathavedan (Sanskrit General) from Kalady Main Campus and K. Abdul Rasheed (Sanskrit Vyakarana) at Tirur Regional Centre.
The report said projects submitted by V. Ramakrishna Bhat and VR Muraleedharan, former faculty members of the university, received funds under the ‘Shastra Chudamani’ scheme for financial assistance for availing the services of eminent or retired Sanskrit scholars.
