The Minister of the Interior of the Union Govind Mohan said on Saturday (April 12, 2025) that the Center carefully monitors the situation in the Murshidabad district in West Bengal and ensured all possible assistance, including the deployment of other security staff, if necessary.
On Saturday (April 12, 2025), three persons such as violent protests against the WAQF law (amendment), 2025, approved by Parliament 4, were killed, and in certain parts of the state continued to ignite.
MHA said that after Murshidabad was reported “municipal violence”, the Minister of the Interior held the video secretary of West Bengal Manoj Pant and the CEO of the police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar on Saturday.
“DGP, West Bengal, reported that the situation was tense, but under control and was carefully monitored.
Mr. Mohan said that in addition to almost 300 BSF workers locally available in Murshidabad, five other companies (approximately 500 employees) were deployed at the request of the state government.
Mr. Mohan recommended the state administration to carefully monitor other sensitive districts and introduce adequate steps to ensure normal.
