The Ministry of the Environment, Environmental Change and Climate (MOEF & CC) ordered the main main conservator of Karnataka forests to ask in the state and present a report on alleged discrepancies in relocating forest residents from Kali (Dandeli -ANSHI) Tiger Reserve in the state.
This is followed by a complaint filed by VM Pramod, an activist based in Maharáštře, which turned to the Ministry and the National Compensation Office for Administration and Planning of Forest (CAMP).
The ministry, which recognized the adoption of the complaint, also handed it over to the CEO of Karnataka Camp for the necessary measure and presentation of the report on the basis of a priority.
The complainant called on the CAMPA funds to “immediately stop” the CAMP funds for the project in addition to finding an independent probe into alleged discrepancies in relocation.
The relocation project, hung to almost 152 Crore according to report 2021, focused on moving about 450 families from forest areas in the district of Uttara Kannada.
However, the petitioner claimed that the Camp funds were “abused”, the statutory warranty and several relocations are illegally performed.
The MoEF & CC complaint states that the benefits for relocation have been extended to individuals who are not entitled to forest rights (FRA), including penetration into the forest and income land. The compulsory consent of the gram of Sabhas was allegedly bypass, although the rules of FRA and CAF, 2018, explicitly require such approval, said Mr. Pramod.
He also stated that there was a formula of procedural outages and non -observance of guarantees and claimed that there was no assessment of social impact, lack of transparency in identifying recipients and the absence of independent verification whether families have voluntarily moved.
The complainant quoted the legal provisions under FRA, the Act on the Protection of Wild Animals from 1972 and NTCA instructions, stated that the forest department in the carnation undermines protection and works on cross purposes by proposing the trekking routes in relaxed areas.
The complainant, calling for an immediate suspension of the CAMP for relocation, was looking for an independent and high -level question concerning the representatives of Camp, MoEF & CC, tribal ministry, court officials, etc. to examine whether the relocation was truly voluntary; Whether in such cases the gram of SABHA was ensured; Whether the claims of FRA were waiting for these relocations or settled before relocation, and whether these relocations were legal recipients and not illegal interveners.
