The Center was forced to introduce a “normal” hike in oil prices due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao said on Wednesday.

Measures are taken to ensure that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG. Efforts are also underway to secure alternative supplies from countries such as Russia and Venezuela, he said.

Mr Rao noted that unlike some countries which have resorted to rationing of fuel or closure of petrol stations during supply disruptions, the Modi government has ensured uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across the country.

He said the ‘New India’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to focus on development and ensuring that the benefits of growth reach every citizen. The government, he said, was acting proactively to balance global domestic needs while maintaining stability in fuel supply.
