The center on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) approved the construction of 2.35 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (system of housing the Prime Minister).
The approval was approved at the third meeting of the Central Committee for Sanction and Monitoring (CSMC), which is chaired by Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and City Affairs (I can), said the official statement.
The houses would be built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). Overall approved houses are 2,34 864 for nine states – Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
PMAY-U 2.0 is carried out through four LED LEDs (BLC), affordable housing in partnership (AHP), affordable plan (ARH) and interest subsidy systems (ISS). The houses approved at the CSMC meeting are under the vertical BLC and AHP systems.
From now on, the total number of houses is sanctioned according to PMAY-U 2.0 7.09 979.

While 42,400 houses were assigned on behalf of the planned recipient caste, 17 574 would be for the planned tribes and 1,13,414 for other reverse classes.
As part of PMAY-U 2.0, 1 CRORE families will be provided with financial assistance in the construction or purchase of a Pucca house in urban areas. The scheme focuses on the confidence of the poor and the middle -class families by giving them secure houses to focus on improving their lives. For individuals/families, central assistance is provided up to 2.50 ₹ Lakh per unit.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), launched in June 2015, was improved and launched as PMAY-U 2.0. Within PMAY, more than 93.19 lake houses have already been built and delivered to recipients. With the launch of PMAY-U 2.0, another 1 EWS/LIG/MIG family from Urban India will be provided.
