The Center on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) told the Supreme Court that all issues related to the installation of CCTV in police stations across the country would be resolved within two weeks.
Attorney General R. Venkataramani told the court of Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta that he was taking stock of the matter and that there were many things going on.
The Union Home Minister also appeared in court in compliance with the Supreme Court’s April 6 order asking him to remain present on Tuesday (April 7) so that he can be given proper assistance in implementing the plan to install CCTV in police stations.
The senior counsel told the Bench that “within two weeks, he will ensure that all issues are resolved by holding regular meetings with the amicus curiae and other officials”.
The bench posted the matter for further hearing on April 28.
The Supreme Court heard the case suo motu over the lack of functional CCTV systems in police stations.
