All schools associated with the Central Council of Secondary Education (CBSE) are obliged to install CCTV cameras on key points throughout the school to ensure the safety of their students, the Council said.
CBSE Secretary Himansh Gupt said in the public orbit that the Board of Directors updated its associated laws 2018 on the inclusion of this new provision. The new provision orders the installation of CCTV cameras with high resolution with the abilities of audiovisual record. They need to be installed in all key areas of school campuses. The key areas include entry and exit points, lobby, corridors, staircases, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, dining rooms, storage rooms, playgrounds and other common areas. Toilets and toilets were liberated from CCTV installation.
This amendment was carried out according to Chapter 4 of the Code, which deal with the requirements for physical infrastructure for associated schools.
“Keep shots”
“The cameras must be able to record in real time and should be associated with storage systems that retain shots for a minimum period of 15 days. It is also expected that schools will maintain advances for this time, which must be available if necessary,” CBSE.
CBSE referred to the safety and security manual and security of the National Child Rights Commission (NCPCR), which defines the “school safety” as creating a safe environment for children starting from home to school and back. This includes safety from any kind of abuse, psycho social issues, violence, disasters, accidents, fire, etc. “Bullying can cause vicified students to suffer from low self -esteem and everyday stress about their well -being,” NCPCR says.
The NCPCR manual further states that “CCTV in schools must be regularly monitored and maintained” in order to make safety from conscientious non -social elements and safety for the overall well -being of children from bullying and other implicit threats.
The latest amendment of CBSE for the installation of CCTVS formalized this recommendation by making it a compulsory condition for association.
