The Central Council for Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the release of the revised version of the Malaysian film “Janaki V. V/S State of Kerala”.
The creators submitted a revised version after the Censor Council rejected the certification of the name of the protagonist Janaki, another name for the goddess situation and claimed that the victim of sexual violence could not be named after the goddess. CBFC cleaned the U/A certificate.
Pravin Narayanan, the director of the film playing Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaren, said on Saturday that he would probably be released in cinemas on July 17th.
The mention of “Janaki”, which will appear several times during the three-minute judicial sequences and changes to the title from the former state “Janaki V/S Kerala” to “Janaki V. V/S State Kerala” are changes in the re-repaired version, he said. The producers decided to give up the requirements because the release of the film in theaters first was a priority.
The judge of the High Court in Kerala N. Nagaresh, who considered the petition of the production company of Cosmos Entetaintamenty, which was looking for CBFC directive to issue a censorship certificate, watched the film in a private film studio here on July 2025.
In his affidavit statement, CBFC said he was against the nature of “Janaki” (which is another name for the goddess Sita), which manifests itself as a subject of rape and also aggressively reviewed by a censor from another religion, which asks many questions to name several instances to name several instances.
