The Indian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (CBCI) has asked political parties and legislators to “accept an impartial and constructive approach” to a draft law on a change of WAQF, which can soon be introduced in parliament.
The appeal is close to the heels of the Catholic bishops of Keral (KCBC) to appeal to the people of the people to vote in favor of the WAQF Change Act. The dismissal of Christian groups welcomed a number of BJP leaders, including trade union ministers.
CBCI, which noted that “certain provisions in the current central WAQF law are not in line with the constitution and secular democratic values of the country,” he added that “the rights of religious minorities, as is guaranteed by the Constitution, must be guaranteed”. He wanted any provisions or laws that are contrary to the principles of the Indian Constitution.
“Complex Legal Dispute”
According to the organization, the Kera Waqf Council triggered the provisions of the Act “to announce ancestors of the real estate more than 600 families in the Munambam area as a land of WAQF”. Over the past three years, this problem has been escalated in a complicated legal dispute and “only a legal amendment can provide a permanent solution” recognized by people’s representatives, he said in a statement issued in Nový Delhi. The authorized land ownership must be fully renewed by Munambam people, he said.
By the way, the President of KCBC Cardinal Cleemis appealed to representatives of people to vote to change sections in the draft law of WAQF, which are not in line with the constitution and are unfair. The provisions of the WAQF law, which legitimize “illegal claims” in such a way that people in Munambam could not claim their demands on Earth on Earth, must be changed, he said.
