The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday refused to accept Karnataka’s contention that the surplus water released to TN during 2025-26 should be considered for the monthly plan. The TN government was speaking at the 50th meeting of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) on Wednesday.
While 174,500 tmc was to be released by Karnataka Tamil Nadu at Billigundl between June 1, 2025 and April 27, 2026, the quantum realized in TN, including surplus water, was 326,945 tmc. Karnataka pointed this out and asked for the surplus to be included in the monthly plan.
