The Kodagu district administration made elaborate arrangements for Cauvery ‘Theerthodbhava’ at Talacauvery, the birthplace of River Cauvery, on Friday.
Thousands of devotees are expected to witness the holy water gushing from its source.
Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya said that the ‘Theerthodbhava’ will take place on Friday at 1.44 pm and that all necessary preparations have been completed.
The sacred ‘kundike’ at Talacauvery was decorated with flowers and lamps.
Barricades were erected by the police to manage the crowd and security measures were taken to facilitate smooth collection of the ‘theertha’. A strong police deployment has been arranged which includes a Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police, three Deputy Superintendents of Police, eight Inspectors, 21 Sub-Inspectors of Police, 41 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 238 Head Constables, 52 Constables and personnel from the Karnataka State Reserve Police and District Armed Reserve Forces.
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will operate 25 buses between Bhagamandala and Talacauvery to offer free transport to devotees. The Bhagandeshwara temple at Bhagamandala was illuminated and necessary facilities were arranged for the devotees at the Triveni Sangama.
