The Catholic Baselios Joseph of Jacobbite of the Syrian Christian Church visited Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad, headquarters of the Syro-Malabar church.
He emphasized the need to support coexistence between churches, especially between Syro-Malabar and Jacobite churches, in his interaction with the main archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil. According to the publication, the visit took place during the Syro-Malabar Synod.
The Archbishop said that the Syro-Malabar church was willing to stretch the hand of fraternity into the Jacobite church whenever it would be needed. He also called for a common effort to maintain a shared religious heritage and the traditions of both churches.
