The day after the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced another socio-economic and educational survey (census) of the Karnataka population in order to provide reservations to the reservations, there was contrasting reactions from the caste.
At the press conference, Rajya Vokkaligar Sangha welcomed the controversial report from the 2015 survey, while the Karnataka State Backward Classes has criticized this decision. Previously, All-India Veerashaiva Mahasabha welcomed the elimination of a 2015 survey report and stated that it would extend cooperation if the government performed fresh.
Although she welcomed the elimination of an old survey, President of Vokkaligar Sangh Kenchapp’s Gowd questioned the need for a new one. “When the Union’s government announced the collection of caste data in the general census, what to have another? The new was announced for political urge,” he said.
He said Sangha is considering organizing a Vokkalig community that would include a collection of information such as land, education, employment and income. “This matter will be presented for discussion before the Committee 18th June.”
However, the Secretary General of the Federation Yennegere R. Venkatarahaiah said it was a “unsatisfactory development”, that the old report report was held aside. “This is a contradictory policy after the announcement that it will be adopted. The dominant communities have always bulled back classes and it happened again,” he said, adding that the full report on the survey should be published.
In a new survey to be carried out, Mr. Venkataramaiaha said that Aadhaar or the additional card must be associated with individuals to prevent someone in the survey to occupy aspers. “The government should be appointed a high -performance committee, including communities and elected representatives to follow the survey that should be completed in the deadline,” he added.
