The Election Commission of India (ECI) said on Monday (Nov 3, 2025) that law enforcement agencies have seized cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals and other gifts estimated to be over ₹100 crore from Bihar and other states where Assembly elections are due this month.
The commission said that as of November 3, the illegal inducements were estimated to be over ₹108.19 crore, including ₹9.62 crore in cash, ₹42.14 crore (9.6 million litres) worth of liquor, ₹24.61 crore worth of drugs and another ₹8 crobie crore free for ₹5 crore in precious metals. ₹26 crore was seized through a coordinated approach involving multiple law enforcement agencies in various states and Union Territories.
Bihar assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. By-elections in eight constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Punjab, Telangana and Rajasthan will be held on November 11.
A total of 824 flying squads have been deployed across Bihar to ensure that complaints reported on the C-VIGIL app are redressed within 100 minutes, the survey body said. He ordered all law enforcement agencies to strictly monitor and crack down on the movement of cash, drugs, alcohol and other inducements during the elections.
The ECI said authorities should ensure that ordinary citizens are not harassed or harassed during checks and inspections.
Citizens and political parties can report violations of the model code of conduct using the C-Vigil app. A 24×7 complaint monitoring system has been established. Complaints could also be registered on the 1950 voter helpline.
