The surviving in the case of the ICU sexual assault in 2023 at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode, plans to protest before the Minister of Health in Thiruvananthapuram and raised objections to the re -appointment of five hospital staff.
They were transferred back to Kozhikode after approaching the administrative tribunal of Keral and recently securing a favorable command. She said that the date and form of protest has so far decided.
The survivor, accompanied by an activist in the field of Human Rights Noushad Thekkayil, met on Thursday (September 18, 2025) with the director of the Government Faculty of Medicine KG sujeeth Kumar and was looking for a copy of the message presented by the tribunal that allowed a favorable order for hospital staff. They were told to file a formal right to request information about the document after which they organized SIT-in outside the Office of the Director. Both were later taken into a preventive bond.
“I have the right to seek a message because they were transferred on the basis of my complaint. It wasn’t even compulsory for three years. This would not happen if the director and director of medical education did not give them a report favorable to the tribunal,” the surviving Hindu said.
It pointed out that the government, although claiming to be with the survivors, the hips with the culprits and quoted several cases at the Faculty of Medicine, where the survivors had to fight teeth and nails for justice.
Mr Thekayil said that five employees could not be transferred back to Kozhikode without creating vacancies by blocking the promotion of three more. “The investigation approved by the police inspector K. Sethuraman clearly accused these five employees. The complaint filed by the survivors is still waiting for the court. However, the government prefers the culprits,” he said.
In this case, the incident occurred on March 18, 2023, when MM Sasendran, the hospital staff, allegedly sexually attacked the survivor, while after the thyroid surgery was still in anesthesia. After an internal investigation in August he was released from service. Five of his colleagues, including nursing assistants, were transferred to other Medical College hospitals after being charged with the endangerment of the survivor and tried to persuade her to change her statement against Sasendran.
